On March 20, 2024, the Chamber of Deputies approved an initial text with some changes to the legislation of the New High School. They are:

• Minimum workload of 2,400 hours for Basic General Education.

• Minimum workload of 600 hours for Formative Itineraries.

• Returns the name Formative Itineraries, following by area.

• Every school must offer at least 2 itineraries, being able to integrate the areas.

• The government and CNE will create curriculum guidelines for the Itineraries and exams, but there is no explicit mention of the ENEM.

• The Spanish discipline remains optional.

• Other curriculum components are now explicit as mandatory, such as Philosophy and Sociology.

The changes are already scheduled for 2025 but require Senate approval.
